Thundershowers are predicted in the next 24 hours in Kolkata and elsewhere in south Bengal. There has been downpour since Monday evening in Kolkata and its fringes. Meanwhile, heavy showers with the possibility of floods have been indicated for the north Bengal districts.
The weather office has indicated that Tuesday and Wednesday will remain cloudy with rains in Kolkata, Howrah, Midnapore East and West, Bankura, East Burdwan and Birbhum districts. This may be accompanied by thundershowers in several districts. Kolkata will have a maximum 33 degree centigrade temperature and 27 degree centigrade minimum temperature, though high humidity will mean discomfort throughout the day.
Incessant, heavy rainfall has been predicted from July 9 in Darjeeling and Kalimpong. Also, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar too will get heavy rainfall from Thursday. Since the rainfall will continue for a few days, there is possibility of flooding, officials said.
