At least 17 people were injured and one left dead when a minibus rammed into a wall on Thursday in Kolkata’s Red Road.
The minibus of Howrah-Metiabruz route hit a boundary wall around Fort William. A policeman riding a two-wheeler went under the wheels of the bus and was killed. He was found trapped under the wheels and was rescued and taken to SSKM Hospital, but was pronounced death.
Kolkata Police authorities reached the spot and rescue operation was started. The bus was removed from the spot and it had led to congestion along the way for some time, and an ambulance took the injured persons to the hospital. Kolkata Police commissioner Soumen Mitra reached the spot. Deputy commissioner of traffic, Kolkata Police, Arijit Sinha, went to SSKM Hospital.
According to reports, the bus was moving at a relatively high speed, and lost control as a two-wheeler came in its way.
