After Sayantan Basu, BJP showcauses Agnimitra Paul about her comments in the media

Agnimitra Paul, who heads the state Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) women’s wing, has been showcaused by the party for the comments she had made before the media on December 18. Paul did not want to comment on the matter.

On that day, Paul was quoted in the media making some comments on her party’s senior leadership on the possibility of Trinamool Congress’ Asansol MLA Jitendra Tewari joining the BJP. Another BJP leader Sayantan Basu had also made some comments on the same matter, and he too was showcaused by the party.

In fact, BJP Union minister of state Babul Supriyo had first gone public on the possibility of Jitendra Tewari joining the BJP. He had expressed his resentment in no uncertain terms. Following this, Agnimitra Paul had come out in support of Babul Supriyo. The showcause letter – dated December 22 – has been sent by BJP’s Pratap Bandopadhyay to Agnimitra Paul. It says that her comments go against the party, and she has been asked to respond within a week.
