All-party meeting in Delhi on Kashmir terrorist attack

An all-party meeting is currently underway in Delhi to discuss the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack which took place in Jammu and Kashmir last Thursday. Called by the Central government, home minister Rajnath Singh is chairing the meeting.

Being held at the Parliament complex, the meeting is being attended by leaders from major opposition parties. Congress leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Lok Janshakti Party head Ram Vilas Paswan, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and the Union minister for parliamentary affairs Narendra Singh Tomar are some of the leaders attending the all-party meet. The Aam Aadmi Party has also extended its support to the government.

There will be discussions on measures being adopted by the government to tackle the situation on ground at Pulwama.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that those responsible for the terror strike at Jammu-Kashmir’s Pulwama district which claimed the lives of forty Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will be ‘punished’.

Calling it a ‘grave mistake’ by those behind the attack, the Prime Minister added that a ‘strong reply’ would soon reach the perpetrators of the attack. Attacking Pakistan for harbouring terrorists groups like the Jaish-e-Mohammed which claimed responsibility for the attack, Prime Minister Modi called the neighbouring state the ‘guardian’ of terrorist cells. The status of ‘Most favoured Nation’ to Pakistan has already been withdrawn in the aftermath of the Pulwama attacks.
