Pulwama attack: Mamata Banerjee holds candlelight march in Kolkata

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee participated in a candlelight vigil in Kolkata on Saturday to protest the attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRFP) personnel in Kashmir’s Pulwama. She walked on the Kolkata streets along with senior leaders of her party.

Over 40 CRPF men were killed in the terrorist attack on February 14. Banerjee, who was in Delhi at that time, returned to Kolkata yesterday evening. She questioned the role of the country’s national security adviser Ajit Doval in the incident. “People I have spoken with say that it is a matter of intelligence failure. Why were so many vehicles going together?” she asked.

“People are asking what the national security adviser was doing. We have the right to know,” she said. “We condemn the terror attack, but the question automatically comes to mind as to why there was no information earlier and it came to light only after the incident took place,” Banerjee added.
