Sixteen persons were arrested in connection with the attack on West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh. The state BJP chief’s vehicle was damaged in Cooch Behar’s Sitalkuchi on Wednesday evening when some people allegedly targetted it.
Ghosh was in Sitalkuchi panchayat samity ground on Wednesday evening for a rally. He was returning after the rally when the attack took place. Ghosh and the BJP have blamed the ruling Trinamool Congress for the attack. Sixteen persons have been arrested in connection with the incident. Ghosh’s convoy has been targetted several times before.
The Election Commission has sought a report on the incident.
