Ballygunge bypoll: Abhishek Banerjee campaigns for Babul Supriyo

The byelection is scheduled on April 12.

Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday campaigned for Babul Supriyo for the upcoming Ballygunge Assembly seat byelections. The seat fell vacant due to the death of senior minister Subrata Mukherjee.

Abhishek Banerjee, along with senior Trinamool leaders Mala Roy, Debashis Kumar along with Babul Supriyo were part of a roadshow that started from Ballygunge and continued till Mullickbazar.

Supriyo is contesting on a Trinamool Congress ticket after he quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined Bengal’s ruling party. The CPI(M) has fielded Saira Shah Halim, while the BJP’s candidate from this seat is Keya Ghosh.

Bypolls will be held in two seats on April 12 and counting will be on April 16. The other seat is Asansol Lok Sabha seat which fell vacant after Babul Supriyo joined Trinamool.
