Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar attacks Assembly Speaker, says his speeches were “blacked out”

Reminded me of Emergency, said Dhankhar

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday made grave allegations against state Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee. He said his visits to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly — on two occasions — reminded him of Emergency days. On Sunday, Dhankhar said at the Bagdogra Airport – on his way to Darjeeling – that he had delivered speeches in the Assembly twice and it reminded him of “Emergency” as on both occasions, his speeches were “blacked out”.

He said that once he had visited the Assembly and the gates were locked. He added that he is yet to receive the information that had asked for, from the Assembly. Dhankhar also said that the Speaker was not aware of his responsibilities and duties.

Reacting to such a strong statement, ruling party Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy has said that the Governor is “not even aware” that he must show respect to the position of the Speaker.
