The Wikipedia page of West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar was “vandalised” on Monday with some objectionable changes made on it regarding his education and career.
In the page, several objectionable words and phrases were used for the Governor. He was even identified as the like “ex-chancellor of Jadavpur University”. The sub-head “education” had been changed to “Uneducation” (sic).
Several satirical comments and sentences were also written in the page drawing references from the recent incidents which have either seen him clashing with the West Bengal government or for which he was criticised.
In one such sentence, the Governor has been referred to as serving as the “insulted” Governor of the state. The mischief-makers have written in the page that he felt insulted as winter had arrived without seeking his permission.
The writers seem to have used sarcasm and mischief to refer to his comments following the 2019 Durga Puja Carnival. Dhankhar was invited by the state government to the carnival but he later said that he “felt deeply pained and insulted” he was not shown on television during the entire event.
On a number of other occasions – which ranged from academic to administrative meetings – the Governor had said that he “felt insulted” as no one had turning up at meetings called by him.
The objectionable parts were removed from the Wikipedia page, but some screenshots had already been taken by then, and shared on social media. An official from Raj Bhawan was quoted saying that action will be taken. Kolkata Police officers are also aware of the matter and have said that this is a very serious issue.
