Bengali film actor Srabanti Chatterjee joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. She has acted in several popular Bengali language films.
“This is a new journey for me,” she said at a press conference in Kolkata, where she joined in presence of Bengal party chief Dilip Ghosh, senior leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya and Swapan Dasgupta. Several actors from Tollygunge – popularly called Tollywood – have joined the BJP in recent times, including Yash, Payel, Papiya Adhikary and so on.
Srabanti Chatterjee has earlier been part of many Trinamool Congress programmes that involved Tollywood actors. She has even appeared in publicity projects including the Mamata Banerjee government’s popular programme “Kanyashree”.
