West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2022 – the sixth edition of the business meet – has been a success, and announced the dates for the next year’s summit between February 1 and 3, 2023. She was speaking at the closing programme of the two-day business summit.
Banerjee said that investment proposals to the tune of Rs 3.5 lakh crore has come to Bengal within 48 hours during the BGBS’ sixth edition this year, and 137 memoranda of understanding (MoU) had been signed. The investment proposals would lead to an estimated generation of 40 lakh jobs in the state, she said. The Bengal CM said that two international airports will be set up in the state at Bagdogra and Andal. She added that several export hubs will have to be set up in various parts of the state. Banerjee said that industrial progress in the state should happen in a way that other states can’t match up to Bengal in the next ten years.
