BJP leader Mukul Roy’s brother-in-law Srijan joins Trinamool Congress

Lawyer Jyoti Prakash Chatterjee & actor Nilanjana Mazumdar too joined the Trinamool today.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice president Mukul Roy’s brother-in-law Srijan Roy joined the Trinamool Congress on Wednesday. Srijan Roy said he was not able to understand the BJP during the two years he was associated with the party, and described the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee as “home”.

“I had joined the BJP in 2019, but I could not understand what the party is about, how it functions, and what is happening. Trinamool Congress is my home,” he said at a press conference at Trinamool Bhavan in presence of state minister Bratya Basu.

Srijan Roy was accused of duping people in the name of offering job to people in the railways. The allegations were levelled against him when Mukul Roy was the Railway Minister and he was also named in this case. Srijan Roy denied the allegations against him.

On Wednesday, High Court lawyer Jyoti Prakash Chatterjee too joined the Trinamool. Serving for 17 years, the lawyer represented several Trinamool MPs and MLAs in High Court. Tollywood model and actor Nilanjana Mazumder also joined the Trinamool on Wednesday.
