Among other key candidates are cricketer Ashok Dinda, who will contest from the Moyna seat. Former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh — once considered close to Mamata Banerjee who has joined the BJP some years back — will contest from the Debra seat.

The first phase includes seats from Purulia, Jhargram, parts of East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Bankura. The second phase includes seats from the remaining seats of Bankura, East Midnapore, West Midnapore and parts of South 24 Parganas. The seats include Patashpur, Kanthi Uttar, Kanthi Dakshin, Khejuri, Gopiballavpur, Jhargram, Kharagpur, Garbeta, Salboni, Medinipur, Sabang, Pingla, Debra, Ghatal, Chandrakona, Keshpur, Bankura, Haldia, Narayangarh, Patharpratima, Kakdwip, Tamluk, Nandigram, Chandipur, Kharagpur Sadar and so on.
