BJP organises “lucky draw” in Dilip Ghosh’s “Cha Chakra” programme in Kolkata, Trinamool Congress mocks

Free gifts were given out.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday distributed “gift coupons” to those who attended its programme in Kolkata’s Jodhpur Park, leading to immense curiosity from among ordinary people and Opposition political parties.

Those who attended state president Dilip Ghosh’s “Cha Chakra” (discussion over cup of tea) meeting at Jodhpur Park this morning, got lucky coupon for which a lucky draw would be held with gifts for the those who win.

Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh mocked this, saying it was an attempt to attract people in the name of gift coupons, as “BJP is unable to draw crowds in its meetings”. Ghosh said, “Nobody is attending their ‘Cha Chakra’ and other political meetings, so lucky draws are being organised as baits. The BJP is organising a circus in the name of politics.”

The ‘Cha Chakra’ campaign was launched by the BJP in Bengal in September 2019 to reach out to people and interact with them over cups of tea.
