The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted raids at residences of Trinamool Congress Birbhum chief Anubrata Mondal’s chartered accountant, a councillor of Bolpur municipality and a local businessman in connection with the cattle smuggling scam.
Mondal was arrested by the CBI earlier. Today, the CBI questioned Bishwajyoti Bandopadhyay, councillor of ward 19 of Bolpur Municipality for around two hours, starting at 10 am. Residences of Manish Kothari, Mondal’s chartered accountant and Sudip Roy, a local businessman, were also searched.
The CBI officers are looking at properties owned by Mondal and his close associates as well as his family members. Properties under the CBI scanner also includes those owned by his late wife Chhobi Mondal and his bodyguard Sehgal Hossain.
