CID summons Arjun Singh, BJP MP wants virtual questioning, seeks case shifted outside Bengal
He has been summoned to the CID office on May 25.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arjun Singh has been summoned by the West Bengal investigation agency CID. But Singh wants to be questioned online due to the COVID-19 situation.
The CID has sent a notice to the BJP MP on Thursday asking him to be present at the CID’s office at Bhawani Bhawan on May 25 in connection with the probe on alleged corruption in the construction of a drainage system.
However, Singh said that though he is willing to cooperate with the investigation, the questioning should be done virtually. Singh has also asked the case to be shifted outside West Bengal, saying that he would not get justice if the case is probed in the state. “Not just my case, all investigations concerning BJP leaders should be carried out outside Bengal,” Singh said. According to Arjun Singh, the state police has summoned him in connection with an “old case” as the CBI has arrested three Trinamool Congress leaders, including two ministers.
