Heavy rain and overcast sky is expected to continue in Kolkata all through Monday and 24 hours after that. This is the result of a system brewing over the Bay of Bengal.
The low-pressure area has intensified into a depression, leading to a deep depression. It moved further away from the Bengal coast. The system was in the interiors of Odisha on Monday afternoon, but it weakened as it moved inland. Over the next 24 hours, it will move towards Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, according to officials of the Met department.
In Kolkata, the sky will remain cloudy over the next 48 hours, and heavy to light rain continually is predicted. This will also impact the temperature, which will remain low. The minimum temperature on Monday was 29.7 degrees, three degrees below normal. Around 10mm of rain was recorded.
