Eight new cases of Coronavirus were confirmed on Monday, making the total number of cases in India 47.
In Kolkata, no confirmed cases have been found yet. However, two more persons were admitted to the Beliaghata Infectious Diseases Hospital. One of them had recently been to Indonesia and the other to Malaysia. Tests on them will be conducted.
Meanwhile, three of the four samples sent for tests have turned out to be negative, but the report of the four has to be checked again. A fifth person at Beliaghata ID Hospital has turned out to be case of swine flu.
Tests have to be conducted for another person – kept in isolation ward of a hospital on Sarat Bose Road. However, the sample collected could not be conducted yet due to some technical issues.
Apart from this, over 1200 persons have been kept on quarantine in hospitals and homes in Kolkata due to travel related history, because they had come in contact with people who later confirmed to have Coronavirus or because they have reported of symptoms.
Meanwhile, the total cases across the country touched 47 – with two persons who came back from Dubai testing positive. Apart from this, one new case has each been reported from Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The global toll of Coronavirus passed 4,000 on Tuesday. Countries across the world have been taking several measures to prevent the spread further.
In Italy, all schools and universities, that were announced to be closed till March 15, won’t open till next month. A nation-wide restriction on travel has also been implemented in Italy. Till April 3, people in Italy will be able to travel only for work, medical reasons or emergencies.
A batch of 58 Indian citizens have been brought to Hindon air force station in Ghaziabad from Iran by the Indian Air Force, and will be quarantined for 14 days, though they are not infected with the virus. The passengers include 25 men, 31 women and two children. Iran is among the worst-hit by Coronavirus other than China and Italy.
