Delhi records 4,099 new cases, Omicron in 84% samples tested

Delhi has recorded 4,099 infections in the last 24 hours, with about 10,000 new Covid cases in the last three days.
According to health minister Satyander Jain, 84 per cent of the samples tested have been of the new variant, Omicron. The new variant is being considered as highly infectious.
“As per genome sequencing reports of December 30-31 from three labs – at Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Lok Nayak Hospital and National Centre for Disease Control – 84 per cent samples were infected with Omicron. Most of the cases are of Omicron,” Jain was quoted saying.
