ED starts probe on fake vaccine camps in Kolkata

The Enforcement Directorate has started probing the fake vaccine scam recently busted in Kolkata.

Debanjan Deb, the alleged mastermind, was arrested last month after Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty reported that she had attended a vaccination camp in Kasba where she was given the vaccine, but she had not received a certificate. Kolkata Police authorities arrested Deb, who ran the vaccination camp, and several others came and reported that they too had been cheated.

Deb claimed to be an IAS officer and several others involved in the scam were arrested. The matter is currently being investigated by a Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the Kolkata Police.

The Central probe agency ED, will investigate the financial aspects of the scam in particular.
