The Bengal Story Bureau: Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has officially put to rest ongoing speculation regarding his involvement in the much-anticipated ‘Hera Pheri 3’. In a recent statement, the director confirmed that he is not associated with the project, following clarifications issued by producer Firoz Nadiadwala earlier this week.
Clarifying the Misconception
Rumours regarding a potential directorial return for the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise had been circulating in industry circles for months, with several reports suggesting Priyadarshan might be back at the helm. However, the director stated that he has had no discussions with the production house regarding the third instalment.
“I am not a part of ‘Hera Pheri 3’,” Priyadarshan clarified, addressing the media. “There was a lot of talk, but nothing was ever discussed or finalised. I think it is important to clear the air given the constant speculation.” The director’s confirmation aligns with the statement released by Firoz Nadiadwala, who also noted that the production team is currently evaluating various creative paths for the franchise.

Franchise Future Remains Uncertain
The ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise, known for its cult status in Indian comedy, has faced numerous production hurdles over the years. With the original director now officially distanced from the upcoming project, questions remain about the creative direction of the third film. Nadiadwala indicated that while the intent to move forward with the franchise exists, the timeline and the final directorial choice remain fluid.
Industry analysts observe that the high expectations surrounding any ‘Hera Pheri’ sequel place immense pressure on the production house to maintain the franchise’s legacy. Priyadarshan, who directed the 2000 original, is often credited with defining the unique brand of slapstick comedy that became the series’ hallmark.
Impact on Industry Expectations
The clarification brings an end to the fan-led anticipation of a reunion between the original creative team. While the future of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ remains shrouded in uncertainty, the industry is now shifting its focus toward who might ultimately take up the directorial mantle for the project. Further official announcements from the production house regarding casting and development are expected later this year.
