The Bengal Story Bureau: Director Ahmed Khan has shed light on the unique comedic style of his upcoming multi-starrer Welcome To The Jungle, revealing that the film relies on deadpan sincerity rather than exaggerated physical comedy. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 26, 2026, the highly anticipated third instalment of the Welcome franchise promises a massive ensemble cast and a fresh take on the series’ signature chaos.

While the Welcome films are historically known for their loud and chaotic elements, Khan insists his directorial approach grounds the absurdity in entirely straight-faced performances.

The Mute Test for Comedy

Speaking about the challenges of executing the film’s tone, the director noted that the actors delivered their most ridiculous lines with complete earnestness.

“This kind of humour is incredibly challenging to create. If you mute Welcome To The Jungle and watch it, it looks like a completely serious film because every actor is performing with absolute sincerity,” Khan said. He added that the contrast between the serious visual tone and the absurd dialogue is the core of the film’s comedy.

“It is only when you turn the volume back on that you realise they are saying the most outrageous and hilarious things. That is what makes films like these so difficult to pull off,” he explained.

The film features one of the largest star casts assembled in recent Hindi cinema history. The lineup includes franchise veterans like Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, alongside Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and Tusshar Kapoor.

Grounded Humour

Khan also explained that the deadpan delivery aligns closely with his own sensibilities as a filmmaker.

“I chose this style of humour because it reflects who I am as a filmmaker. I have never been drawn to over-the-top comedy, and the same goes for heavily dramatised scenes,” Khan said. “I prefer humour that feels natural and grounded, where the situations and performances speak for themselves. That is exactly what drew me to this film.”

Produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwallah and backed by a consortium including Cape of Good Films and Star Studio18, Welcome To The Jungle carries the significant weight of box office expectations. With a grand scale, multiple elaborate musical pieces, and a completely new directorial vision, the project is positioned as one of the biggest commercial releases of 2026.
