Former IPS officer and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Ghatal, Bharati Ghosh, has said that her vehicle was attacked by Trinamool Congress workers on Saturday evening.
Ghosh alleged that some Trinamool Congress workers had hurled stones at her vehicle and had even beaten up her polling agent.
She and her polling agent Ayan Dandapat were returning from an election rally at Saberia and going towards Ghatal when the alleged incident took place.
On Sunday, Bharati Ghosh lodged a complaint with the Daspur police station in West Midnapore district against unknown Trinamool Congress workers. She has also informed the Election Commission authorities about the incident.
Bengali movie star Dev, the sitting MP from Ghatal, also the Trinamool Congress candidate from Ghatal this time, however, said: “I don’t believe in violence. Why should we attack anyone’s vehicle?”
The BJP’s West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh however said that the Trinamool Congress was bringing trouble for itself by indulging in such violent acts. “They are doing such unlawful things out of utter desperation,” Dilip Ghosh said.
