GTA poll results out, Anit Thapa’s party sweeps polls, Trinamool wins seats for the first time
Anit Thapa-led BGPM has won 26 of the 45 seats.
The final results of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in West Bengal’s Darjeeling are out and the Anit Thapa-led Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM) has won 26 of the 45 seats. Trinamool Congress won five seats while Independents and the newly formed Hamro party won seven seats each. This is the first time Trinamool managed to win a seat in the GTA.
Elections in the GTA – the semi-autonomous council that governs Darjeeling – were held on Sunday after a decade.
