India’s daily Covid numbers increased by a huge 12 per cent today, with the country reporting 47,092 new infections. This is the highest single-day rise in two months. Also, 509 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
The highest number of cases was reported from Kerala, that had 32,803 cases. This is nearly 70 per cent of the new cases. Maharashtra is another state reporting high number of Covid cases. Its tally increased by 4,456 in the last 24 hours, making the total number 64,69,332 and 183 virus-related deaths were also reported during this time.
Meanwhile, India’s vaccine coverage has crossed 66 crore, with at least one dose in 54 per cent adults and 16 per cent of this completing the two-doses required.
