“If she wants to show her leg, she should wear bermuda shorts” Dilip Ghosh on Mamata Banerjee
The remark was made by the Bengal BJP chief at a public meeting in Purulia on Tuesday.
West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday said at a public meeting in Purulia district that if Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee “wants to show her leg, she should wear bermuda shorts instead of saree”. The comment has shocked people, including, it seemed, some people sitting on the dais along with him.
Banerjee was injured in Nandigram on March 10, and her leg was put in a cast following admission in Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital for two days. She has been campaigning in various parts of the state, addressing meetings and rallies on a wheelchair. She has been resting her injured foot on stool. Referring to this, Ghosh said: “The cast was taken off, then covered again. She is wearing a saree and showing a leg and covering another. I have never seen anyone wearing saree like that. If she wants to show her leg, she should wear bermuda shorts instead.”
Trinamool Congress has shared a clipping of the video on its official Twitter page, stating that this was proof that the BJP leaders in Bengal have no respect for the only woman chief minister in the country. It added that the women of Bengal will give a fitting reply to this insult on May 2.
