In 5 years we’ll do for Bengal what Cong, Left & Trinamool couldn’t do in 70 years: PM Modi

PM Modi will address more rallies in the coming days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that he wants to fast-track development in Bengal, and urged the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was speaking at a public rally in Kharagpur of West Midnapore.

“You have given the Congress, the Left and the Trinamool Congress 70 years to run this state. The Congress and CPI-M has not done anything for the state, and Trinamool Congress has shattered your dreams. Give us five years and we will rid the state of the misery of the past 70 years. Give us an opportunity to serve Bengal,” he said.

Modi added that the youth of Bengal have lost precious time of their lives. “They don’t have to migrate to get work. We will bring ‘Ashol Paribartan’ (real development),” he said. Modi also raised the slogan “Bangal mein iss bar BJP sarkar” (BJP government for Bengal this time).

PM Modi attacked the Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee saying that in Didi’s school, the syllabus includes tolabaji (extortion), cut-money and syndicate raj. “We all know how the sand mafia has eroded the riverbed in the area,” he said.

This is Modi’s second visit to West Bengal in three days. He was in Purulia on Thursday. The PM is scheduled to tour Bengal visiting three districts over the next five days. Bengal goes to an eight-phase election beginning March 27. The last phase of elections is on April 29 and results are out on May 2.
