Sandakphu in Darjeeling experienced the first snowfall of the season on Friday. Snowfall started at around 5 pm and it rained at night. Tourists were visibly happy with the snowfall while the local tourism agencies are happy because they expect significantly more tourists this year because of the snowfall.

Secretary of a local tourist association said those running business there were hopeful of snowfall increasing as the temperature had started lowering from mid-November in the hills.
As snowfall continued in Sandakphu on Saturday, local tourism agencies also feared that continuous snowfall may block roads and hinder traffic movement.
