Mamata attacks Centre, says if they have CBI, we have CID and STF

Attacking the Central government, the West Bengal chief minister has stated that if the Central government has investigative agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at its disposal, the state government has the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Task Force (STF). Speaking at an official gathering at Rampurhat in Birbhum district on Wednesday, the chief minister stated that the Central government was using the CBI to intimidate everyone. It was even questioning the paintings and writings of the Trinamool chief. Mamata Banerjee said that if anyone can prove that she has enjoyed any fiscal benefits out of it, she would quit politics.

Pointing out that there were several allegations against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders – from smuggling children to gas scandals – all recorded by the police, Banerjee hinted at reopening those cases.

She further alleged that the BJP was using the central investigative agencies as well as trying to come to power by inciting violence. Without taking names, she attacked BJP national president Amit Shah to be “half-educated”. She further added that the BJP leaders had no inkling of the culture of the land of Bengal. They were only given to fabricating stories and their time was up, said the Trinamool chief. They had only one more month at their disposal, she said.

At yesterday’s rally at Kanthi, BJP leader Amit Shah had alleged that the Mamata government had simply repackaged the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign as ‘Nirmal Bangla’ and renamed the ‘Beti Bachhao, Beti Padao’ campaign as the ‘Kanyashree’. Countering  his allegation, the chief minister stated that the ‘Kanyashree’ campaign had started in 2013 whereas the ‘Beti Bachhao, Beti Padao’ campaign was flagged off in 2015.

At the Rampurhat gathering, Mamata retaliated that the Central government had, in fact, copied her ideas. She further added that the BJP would not win a single seat in Bengal in the upcoming election. People can be fooled for some time, not all the time the Trinamool head concluded.
