Observing that too many cars were stranded on the service road, Banerjee sensed that people on the road were being inconvenienced due to her. She spoke with the passengers and pedestrians and learnt that the cars had been diverted to the service road and they had been left stranded there for almost 15 minutes as she was due to arrive.

She spoke with traffic police personnel and told them that commuters should not be inconvenienced because of her. Banerjee said she would rather wait at the traffic signals, but other vehicles should not have been stopped for her.

She herself cleared the snarl that had been created on the service road and people were pleasantly surprised and moved by the CM’s gesture. The Bidhannagar Commissionerate authorities have asked their traffic department to submit a detailed report on the incident.
