Mamata Banerjee to meet police officers in the state today on law & order situation

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a video conference with top police officials in the state on Monday to review the law and order situation. She is also expected to take feedback from the officers on political clashes and the general difficulties the officers may be facing in tackling the law and order situation in various parts of the state.

While some officers will be present at state administrative headquarters Nabanna, the others will interact with the CM over videoconferencing from their respective districts. Director general of state police, Virendra, IG-law and order Gyanwant Singh, Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma, are among the officers who will be present at Nabanna for the meeting.

She will discuss and review matters with officers of the superintendent of police rank and above, including additional director general, deputy inspector general and so on.

Banerjee has been interacting with district-level officers and their juniors during her visit to the districts for administrative review meetings. In such meetings, she has often rebuked officers for increased number of road accidents, asking them to implement directives of Safe Drive, Save Life campaign – the state’s flagship road safety initiative — asked for speedy resolution of pending cases, among other things.
