Bharatiya Janata Party leader from West Bengal’s Alipurduar – Leos Kujur – joined the Trinamool Congress on Tuesday. Kujur is a leader from Kumargram, which has a large tribal population. Over a hundred BJP supporters joined the Trinamool along with Kujur.
He is a popular leader in the tea gardens and his joining the Trinamool Congress is being considered an important step for the party to gain more support in the region.
Kujur joined the Trinamool in presence of Bengal ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya and Malay Ghatak in Kolkata. His supporters however, joined Trinamool Congress officially from Kumargram in order for them to avoid travelling during the pandemic.
