Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday said that poll strategist Prashant Kishor is in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his comments indicate that he is trying to strengthen the party. Chowdhury spoke in connection with Kishor’s comments on the BJP, Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi at a Q&A session.
Kishor has said that “the BJP is not going anywhere for many decades” and “the problem with Rahul Gandhi is that he does not realise it”. His comments were also indicative of the fact that his talks with the Gandhis and the Congress have failed. Kishor said that the BJP is going to be the centre of Indian polity, whether or not they win or lose, like it was for the Congress in the first 40 years of Independence.
Reacting to his comments, Adhir Chowdhury said that the comments indicate that it is not unlikely that Kishor is part of the effort to help BJP retain power in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier this month, the poll strategist had pointed at “deep-rooted” problems in the Congress, and “cautioned” those who felt that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s move to meet the families of the farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh would mean a “quick, spontaneous revival” of a Congress-led Opposition force in the country. He said that “unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness” of the Congress party.
