Rajasthan government relaxes two-child policy

The Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government on Wednesday relaxed its two-child policy for the state government employees, which made retirement compulsory on the birth of a third child so far.

At a press conference, the state’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathode said that the Rajasthan state cabinet had decided to remove the provisions under Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules 1996, Section 53(a), which entails compulsory retirement of an employee on birth of a third child, the ANI reported.

Rathode said the birth rate in the region had improved and the state had taken all efforts to make the schemes related to family planning, a success.
