BJP MP’s daughter and 18 others arrested in Assam cash-for-job scam case

Pallavi Sharma, daughter of BJP MP R.P. Sharma, and 18 other government officials were arrested by Assam Police on Wednesday in connection with the cash-for-job scam of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

Additional Superintendent of Police of Dibrugarh Police, Surajeet Singh Panesar has told ANI in an interview that 63 persons have been arrested so far in the case. This includes 19 officers arrested on Wednesday.

Police have been able to track down 25 officials – out of them 13 in Assam Civil Services, others in Assam Police Services and in allies civil services – who are in the 2015 batch and had bribed APSC officials to get jobs.

Earlier, a chargesheet had been filed against former APSC chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul and some other members in this connection.
