Rajib Banerjee resigns as MLA & Trinamool member, carrying Mamata Banerjee’s picture
Banerjee appears all set to join the BJP as Amit Shah will be in Kolkata today.
Rajib Banerjee, former minister in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet, resigned as member of the Legislative Assembly on Friday, significantly on the day Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting West Bengal. Banerjee had earlier resigned as minister.
He is also learnt to have sent his resignation as a member of Bengal’s ruling party, Trinamool Congress. Banerjee went to the Bengal Assembly and submitted his resignation to the Speaker. He was carrying a photograph of Mamata Banerjee during his visit to the Assembly. Later, he is learnt to have sent his resignation letter to the Trinamool Congress authorities, resigning as a member of the party. Banerjee looks all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), even as he chose to not confirm this.
Meanwhile, former Mayor of the Howrah Municipal Corporation, Rathin Chakraborty, spoke with a section of the media confirming that he will be joining the BJP, and will be present at Shah’s rally.
