A second case of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) was found in Kolkata — a 22-year-old man who recently returned from London a few days ago — has tested positive, and is now is Beliaghata ID Hospital. He had returned from London on March 13, and got admitted to Beliaghata ID Hospital on March 19. He is a resident of Ballygunge in Kolkata.

Two of his friends — residents of Punjab and Chhattisgarh — also tested positive. They were in London with him. The young man went home from the airport after he showed no symptoms and has been in home isolation since then. However, he developed some symptoms and went to the ID Hospital on March 19 and was admitted. His test reports confirmed Coronavirus on Thursday night.

His family members have also been kept in isolation from the time his reports came in. The elderly grandparents are being shifted to Beliaghata ID Hospital. The others in the family are primarily being kept in home isolation, and perhaps they too can be later shifted to hospital if such a decision is taken later. The young man’s parents and brother are in home isolation, and the grandparents who live in an adjoining flat are being taken to ID Hospital.

Attempts are being made to track down all those who had come in contact with the Ballygunge resident, during the flight he had taken and all the others who may have come in contact with him.

The first case of Coronavirus is Kolkata is a teenager who had returned from London on March 15, the son of a senior bureaucrat. No one else he had come in contact with, in Kolkata, have tested positive so far. Many are under observation right now.
