The Bengal Story Bureau: Hero MotoCorp has updated its 125cc commuter segment with the launch of the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0. Priced at Rs 86,500 (ex-showroom) for the base drum variant, the motorcycle promises improved fuel efficiency, modern digital features and reliable performance for daily urban riding.

The new edition builds on the established Super Splendor platform, retaining its core mechanicals while introducing cosmetic upgrades, dual-tone graphics and a revised feature list to compete in the highly active 125cc commuter market.

Engine, Performance and Mileage

The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is powered by the familiar 124.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This motor produces a peak power of 10.7 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Fuel efficiency remains a key selling point for the commuter motorcycle. Hero MotoCorp claims the updated engine, equipped with Advanced Programmed Fuel Injection (APFI) and the proprietary i3S idle stop-start system, can deliver a mileage of up to 75 kmpl under ideal test conditions. Real-world fuel economy is expected to range between 60 and 65 kmpl, making it a cost-effective option for daily travel. The bike features a 12-litre fuel tank, offering a substantial riding range between fill-ups.

Hardware and Practical Features

The motorcycle is built around a diamond frame, suspended by telescopic front forks and five-step adjustable hydraulic rear shock absorbers. This setup is tuned to handle varied city road conditions and provide a comfortable ride for both the rider and pillion. Braking duties are handled by a 130 mm drum brake at the rear, with the option of a 240 mm front disc brake or a 130 mm front drum brake, supported by an integrated braking system.

Hero has equipped the XTEC 2.0 with a fully digital instrument console. The LCD screen displays real-time mileage, fuel level and trip meters. It also supports Bluetooth connectivity, providing call and SMS alerts directly on the dashboard. For added convenience, the motorcycle includes a USB Type-C charging port, an LED headlight, an integrated starter generator for silent starts, hazard lights and a side-stand engine cut-off switch.
