The Skoda Peaq is a seven-seat electric SUV offering up to 647 km of range on a single charge.

KOLKATA: The Bengal Story Bureau: Skoda has globally revealed its new flagship electric vehicle, the Peaq. The luxury seven-seat SUV features a top claimed range of 647 kilometres, a capacity that makes a continuous drive from Kolkata to the hill station of Darjeeling possible without a single charging stop.

The 4.87-metre-long vehicle is built on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform and introduces the Modern Solid design language of the brand. It is positioned to rival premium electric SUVs such as the Kia EV9 and the Volvo EX90 in the global market.

Three Battery Configurations

Skoda will offer the Peaq in three international variants: the 60, the 90 and the 90x. The entry-level 60 model carries a 63 kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering 204 horsepower and a range of 459 km.

The mid-tier 90 variant is designed for maximum endurance. It houses a larger 91 kWh battery and a 286-horsepower rear motor, achieving the headline 647 km range. For performance enthusiasts, the 90x variant combines the 91 kWh battery with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system. This setup generates 299 horsepower and covers 613 km per charge.

The company stated that the 91 kWh battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 28 minutes when connected to a 199 kW DC fast charger.

Premium Cabin and Features

The interior of the Peaq focuses on space and digital integration. The cabin features a 13.6-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system and a 10-inch digital driver display. Entertainment is managed by a 16-speaker Sonos sound system.

The vehicle includes a 2.1-square-metre panoramic sunroof and an optional relax package that adds AGR-certified seats with massage functions. The SUV also supports bidirectional charging, allowing owners to power external devices or feed energy back into the grid. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, advanced driver assistance systems and a 360-degree camera.

India Launch Expectations

While Skoda has not announced an official launch date for India, industry reports indicate the company is evaluating the model for the domestic market by 2027. The Peaq is likely to enter India as a completely built unit.

Given the import route, auto analysts expect the vehicle to be priced between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.30 crore. A local assembly plan in the future could help Skoda capture a larger share of the expanding Indian premium electric vehicle segment.
