Manas Bhunia, Trinamool Congress MP and the party’s candidate from Sabong for the coming Assembly polls, has been called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has been called in connection with the I-Core chit fund investigations.
The Trinamool Congress leaders said that Bhunia was called as the Assembly elections are just around the corner and alleged that the entire exercise of probe is due to a “political motive”.
Elections are scheduled in West Bengal in eight phases from March 27 to April 29. Results are out on May 2.
