Trinamool to EC: “we suspect violence planned by BJP, Suvendu Adhikari harbouring armed criminals”
Elections in Nandigram is scheduled on April 1
The Trinamool Congress on Friday wrote to the chief electoral officer seeking additional deployment of Central forces in some areas of Midnapore and the “harbouring of armed criminals” by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram.
The Trinamool sought deployment of more forces in Kanthi (Uttar and Dakshin), Bhagabanpur, Khejuri, Ramnagar, Egra, Patashpur, stating that they have inputs that there will be “considerable violence” planned by the BJP on the day preceding the poll day and on the poll day itself. However, the Trinamool alleged that the local police have been informed but the deployment of forces is still less. They alleged that this could be either due to absence of intelligence inputs or to deliberately to favour the BJP.
The Trinamool has also reiterated (they have also alleged this earlier) that BJP candidate of Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, has been harbouring armed criminals in the area. The allegation mentioned nine locations including in Gokulnagar, Shamsabad, Nandigram Hospital Mor, Haripur, Khodambari, Boyal and so on. They have asked the EC to take immediate action.
Trinamool Congress MPs Derek O’Brien and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar raised the issue with the state’s chief electoral officer.
