Trinamool’s Madan Mitra summoned by the ED in Saradha chit fund probe

He is Trinamool's candidate from Kamarhati for the coming Assembly polls

Trinamool Congress’ former minister Madan Mitra has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam probe. He has been asked by the investigators to be present in the agency’s office in Salt Lake’s CGO complex on March 18. Mitra is the Trinamool Congress’ candidate from Kamarhati for the coming Assembly polls.

He was minister of two departments after winning from Kamarhati in 2011. Later, he was arrested in the Saradha case. In 2016, Mitra was fielded candidate from the same seat but he lost to the CPI(M)’s Manas Mukherjee.

Now, with Madan Mitra fielded as candidate again, the ED summons has led to Trinamool Congress alleging that the BJP at the Centre is using probe agencies to harass Bengal’s ruling party’s candidates and senior leadership.
