Two persons were arrested in connection with the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manish Shukla. Shukla was shot at from close range on Sunday evening near the Titagarh police station in Barrackpore area.
The state’s Criminal Investigation Department is conducting the probe into the murder. The two arrested persons — Khurram and Ghulab Sheikh – are both said to be residents of Titagarh. In addition, several persons have been detained.
Police have been conducting night-long raids in various parts of Barrackpore. CCTV footage and various other clues led the police to Khurram and Ghulab Sheikh and more are expected to be rounded up, police said.
