“We will continue to work for the people in Goa”: Abhishek Banerjee
Will analyse the performance and work towards improvement, said the Trinamool Congress leader.
Trinamool Congress may not have won a single seat in the Goa Assembly polls, but the party won’t leave the state and will continue the fight on the ground. Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said this at the Kolkata International Airport late on Thursday night on returning from Goa.
Results of five state Assembly elections were out on Thursday and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in four out of the five states. The party won a second term in Uttar Pradesh, and won in Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. The Aam Admi Party (AAP) won in Punjab, ousting the Congress party.
Trinamool Congress, which contested only from Goa out of these five states, failed to win a single seat. Banerjee however, refused to be perturbed by this, and said: “We have reached the people of Goa in very little time. We may not have been able to reach all, but we got six per cent votes. Our representatives will continue to work for the people. We have lost in four seats by thin margin.”
Abhishek Banerjee also said, “There are some seats in which Trinamool got 30 per cent votes within three months. We are committed to the people of Goa and we will keep our promise and not leave the ground.” He said that the performance will be analysed and next steps will be taken soon.
