“Who says I am with Trinamool?” Sisir Adhikari expected to join BJP at PM’s rally
Sisir Adhikari & Suvendu Adhikari confirm that the former will join the BJP.
After Suvendu Adhikari – former state minister and trusted aide of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee – joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Union home minister Amit Shah’s rally in Midnapore three months back, his father, senior Trinamool leader and MP Sisir Adhikari may follow suit. In fact, on Wednesday, Suvendu Adhikari said at a public meeting, that Sisir Adhikari will be present at the PM’s rally. While he did not mention it, it is being assumed that he meant the Prime Minister’s rally in East Midnapore on March 24.
Since Suvendu’s joining the BJP, there have been speculation that his father too may join the saffron party. Sisir Adhikari on Wednesday questioned whether he was still part of the Trinamool Congress. “Who says I am in the Trinamool Congress? Since my son left the Trinamool Congress, I too have been subjected to lot of criticism. The people of Midnapore know what we have done for them and if we are opportunists.”
Reacting to this new development, Trinamool Congress senior leader Sougata Roy said that it was now clear that “blood is thicker than water”, and no matter how much the Trinamool Congress had done for the Adhikaris, Sisir Adhikari would do what his son asked him to do.
