Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tested positive for COVID-19. He tweeted this adding that he is isolating himself. His predecessor, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, has also tested positive for COVID-19. He had received the first dose of vaccine earlier this month.
Adityanath had already gone into isolation after some officials in his office tested positive. The UP CM also urged that those who came in contact with him recently, should also get themselves tested. “When the initial symptoms were seen, I got myself tested for Covid and my report was positive. I am in self-isolation and following instructions of physicians. I am doing all work virtually,” Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.
Uttar Pradesh recorded a single-day spike of 17,963 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Eighty-five persons died during this time.
