277 new COVID-19 cases in Bengal on Friday, high increase rate continues

There were 277 new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in West Bengal on Friday. While the number is lower than the 344 new cases on Thursday, the number is still quite high compared to what it was earlier this week and prior to that.

Seven more persons died from COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 230. The total number of positive cases in Bengal has gone up to 4,813.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state is 2,763. On Friday, 107 more people were discharged from hospitals taking the discharge rate to 36.87 per cent. A total of 9,282 samples were tested on Friday taking the total number of samples tested to 1,85,051, with a positivity rate of 2.6 per cent.

The number of laboratories conducting tests across the state is now 40. A total of 8,785 beds have been earmarked in the 69 dedicated Covid-19 hospitals throughout the state, with a occupancy of 18 per cent, according to the health bulletin of the state health department.
