7 new districts in West Bengal soon

Currently, there are 23 districts in the state.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today announced that seven new districts will be carved out in the state soon. These districts will be carved out of Murshidabad, Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts.

The new districts will be Behrampore, Kandi, Icchamoti, Basirhat, Sunderban and Ranaghat. Bankura too will be divided – with Bishnupur to be formed as a new district. Currently, the state has 23 districts and once the divisions are completed, there will be 30 districts.
