The Bengal Story Bureau: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has revealed that his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, is his most stringent critic. Speaking about their relationship during a recent media interaction, the actor stated that her brutally honest feedback on his work plays a significant role in keeping him grounded.
While promoting his recently released comedy film ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, Kumar was asked about the person who reviews his performances the most critically. He instantly named his wife, explaining that she never hesitates to point out his cinematic flaws. He added in a lighter vein that Khanna is often ruthless with her film reviews, but her straightforwardness is a quality he values deeply.
Akshay Kumar on Twinkle Khanna’s Feedback
According to the actor, a partner who only offers praise cannot help an individual grow professionally or personally. He admitted that while Khanna’s negative feedback can be harsh, she is equally generous with her compliments when he delivers a genuinely strong performance.

Recalling a specific incident, Kumar shared a story from his time in a dubbing studio. He stated that he once received a text message from his wife praising the trailer of an upcoming project. The compliment meant so much to him that he immediately showed the message to veteran director Priyadarshan to celebrate the rare validation.
Why Constructive Criticism in Marriage Matters
Relationship experts agree that honest feedback between partners is a sign of a strong marital foundation. Delhi-based psychologist Atul Raj explained that a healthy marriage does not mean avoiding difficult truths or offering blind support.
“We often seek validation from friends or social media, but praise from a partner who knows our journey and weaknesses holds special importance,” Raj said. He noted that pointing out flaws with love and mutual respect helps couples evolve. When partners acknowledge each other’s efforts and offer truthful assessments, it creates a much deeper sense of emotional security.
