In Uttar Pradesh, cop kneels before Adityanath to seek “blessings”

A police officer from Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh was photographed in uniform “seeking blessings” from chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also the head priest of Gorakhnath temple.

A number of photographs were shared on Facebook by Praveen Kumar Singh himself, who is a circle officer of Gorakhnath area. He is seen kneeling before the chief minister with folded hands, applying tilak on Adityanath’s forehead and garlanding him. While the Facebook post mentioned “feeling blessed” on his status along with the photographs, Singh later deleted it.

However, it created a buzz on different social media platforms. Some found nothing wrong that he was seeking blessings of Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Guru Purnima – not as the CM but as the head of the Gorakhnath temple, but there were others who argued how an officer could do this in uniform.
